Palghar District Disaster Management Authority and NDRF conducted flood rescue training for local search and rescue teams on Wednesday. The programme was held in the Surya River at Maswan and focused on practical water rescue skills. Teams from Palghar, Jawhar, Dahanu Municipal Councils and Talasari Nagar Panchayat participated to improve emergency response preparedness during floods.

Thane Municipal Corporation has sanctioned ₹7.5 crore for rebuilding the nearly 40-year-old stormwater drain at Jambli Naka to address recurring flooding. The issue was raised by BJP corporator Namrata Koli during a General Body meeting. Municipal engineer Prashant Songra said work under the Integrated Drain Development Scheme would begin soon to improve drainage capacity in the area.

Bhiwandi civic administration said 3,719 Ganesh idols were immersed peacefully during the first phase of 1.5-day Ganeshotsav on Tuesday. Of these, 3,411 idols were immersed at natural ghats and 308 in artificial ponds. Prabhag Samiti No. 3 recorded the highest participation with 2,235 immersions across the city’s five civic divisions.
