24日のニューヨーク外国為替市場の円相場はドルに対し下落が進み、一時、1ドル＝159円台を付けた。約3週間ぶりの円安・ドル高水準。23日は午後5時現在、前日比95銭円安・ドル高の1ドル＝158円32～42銭。早期の米追加利上げ観測が強まり、日米の金利差拡大を意識した円売り・ドル買いが優勢だった。
