The petitioners argue that the provision allowing marriages across faiths raises inheritance concerns in certain cases. The court has sought a response; it has not ruled on the challenge.

Traders in Indore observed ‘No UPI Day’ on Wednesday, covering payment QR codes and asking customers for cash to protest a proposed 0.4% merchant charge on certain UPI transactions above ₹2,000. Organisers claimed nearly 125 business associations participated in the city and warned of stronger demonstrations if the charge proceeds.

Patwari and tehsildar associations say they will not carry out registries under Madhya Pradesh’s Swamitva campaign until the government addresses their concerns about responsibility for future property disputes. Patwari Association president Upendra Baghel claimed no registries had taken place in the five days after rollout.
