The Federal High Court sitting in Gombe has nullified the emergence of Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State and ordered the party to conduct a fresh primary.

The Independent Committee of Inquiry investigating the reported deaths of 37 persons in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced its investigation. The 37 persons died on Thursday, September 17, 2026, while in the custody of the NSCDC Niger State Command after they were detained over suspected illegal mining.
