Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the drought-like situation in Latur and Dharashiv extremely serious after visiting affected areas. He said the regions received around 50% of normal rainfall, damaging soybean crops. Fadnavis assured farmers of comprehensive relief, crop-loss support and measures for water and fodder shortages, while a government resolution is expected this year.

A demand for minority representation on Maharashtra’s UCC committee has emerged after Justice R C Chavan’s resignation. MLA Rais Shaikh wrote to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking a new member from the minority community. Chavan had cited differences over the committee’s functioning, public feedback process and participation of a non-member in a meeting before resigning.

BEST Bus Division’s income rose by nearly ₹497 crore to ₹2,136.46 crore in 2025-26, according to final accounts placed before the BEST Committee. The deficit narrowed by ₹540.46 crore as higher wet-lease revenue, increased BMC support and a May 2025 fare revision boosted earnings. Ticket income from wet-lease buses increased by ₹235.30 crore, while BEST’s own bus revenue declined slightly.

MMRDA rejected permission for a temporary prayer shed near Mumbai airport’s T2, citing no religious structure reservation in the area plan. The VHP then sought demolition of an existing prayer hall, alleging it was unauthorised. MMRDA said no worship site was designated in CSMIANA, while MIAL declined comment on the matter involving airport authorities.

NMMC plans a pedestrian bridge near Digha railway station at an estimated cost of around ₹5 crore to help residents avoid crossing the busy Thane-Belapur Road. The civic body said the bridge will provide safer access for commuters, workers and nearby residents. Construction is expected to begin after the tender process is completed, officials said.
